                        Design Brief – Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum Posters

Project Overview:

To design promotional material which highlights items from the Kelvingrove’s collection, with the intention of attracting visitors. The designs should feature various pieces and be of differing styles, to represent the institution’s wide catalogue of artwork.

Overall objectives:

  • Create mixed, eye catching designs with pieces from the museum’s collection or features of the building placed prominently throughout

  • Represent the Kelvingrove’s enduring commitment to expression and artistic legacies

  • Develop posters ready for print and digital display

  • Increase awareness and visitor numbers

Audience:

Tourists; local residents and regular patrons; students and art history/cultural enthusiasts; casual visitors seeking free or accessible attractions

Visual Direction:

  • Items from the collection pushed to the forefront of the designs and used in inventive ways

  • Large, readable headlines and clear supportive text

  • Modern layouts with confident typography and generous space

  • Bold colours where appropriate, with choices made to compliment the accompanying artwork
